Little Mumbulla Playgroup
All parents with young children, from babies to pre-Kindergarten age, are welcome at Little Mumbulla Playgroup.
Little Mumbulla is seen as an extension of home. Children and parents/guardians are invited to come along and share in play, morning tea, craft and daily activities in a nurturing homelike environment
Our Playgroup is based on the philosophy of Rudolf Steiner. This means that great importance is placed on:
- Creating an environment in which the young child (0-5 years) feels safe and secure
- Allowing children the space to play as play is seen as the young child’s “work”
- Nurturing children’s sensory experience of the world
- Encouraging reverence for the natural world
- Children learning through imitation, repetition and doing
We hope that what is learned in Playgroup flows into your homes and enriches your lives.
Rhythm
The Playgroup sessions follow a simple rhythm that aims to create a sense of security for children. They soon come to know what to expect as they transition gently through song from one activity to the next. Part of the Playgroup rhythm also focusses on the seasons, learning through songs, stories and craft. Seasonal festivals are a wonderful part of the playgroup experience.
Environment
The colour, feel and furnishings of the Playgroup room create a warm homelike environment. Simple natural materials are provided for imaginative play. Playgroup has a delightful enclosed garden outside with a sandpit and no end of things for the children to discover.
Food
Mealtimes at Little Mumbulla are a wholesome, nourishing experience. Each Playgroup session begins with bread making and the loaves that are made are shared together at morning tea.
Parent involvement
Little Mumbulla Playgroup is a welcoming community. There are many ways that parents can be involved including networking, gardening and sharing ideas.
Transition
Little Mumbulla not only offers a wonderful first experience of Playgroup it is also a lovely taste of the experiences that await your child/ren if they continue onto Kindergarten at the school. The routines, rhythms and charms of the homelike experience of Little Mumbulla feed seamlessly into the equally nurturing world of the Mumbulla Kindergarten.
Fees
Session fees are $200 per term per family (up to 2 children, $20 for each additional child over 6 months old).
If you choose to withdraw your child during the school term, full term fees still apply unless an alternative arrangement is made with the Business Manager.
